Our principal, Josh, graduated in 2006 with a vision to establish a nimble architecture firm offering diverse services, honed by his experience in both commercial and residential design. Josh has dreamed of opening and operating a smaller, nimble architecture firm that offers a wider variety of services based on years of experience in commercial and residential design. From 2006 to 2010, the design focused on medium and high-end condo/apartment complexes. In 2010, the market forced a major change that led to taking a position with a long-term manufacturing company specializing in store kiosk design, fabrication, and construction. This change proved invaluable as it allowed Josh to learn considerably more details about the construction and fabrication elements of commercial and residential projects and the business details necessary to serve as the foundation for long-term success. Details that many architects and designers do not have the luxury of experiencing. This adaptability is a testament to our ability to handle diverse projects and meet our client's needs.
In 2011, Josh partnered with a colleague at the manufacturing company to create the construction department. Through the hard work of each party, the division rapidly grew to a peak of 20 staff, constructing restaurant and retail tenant improvement projects throughout the country.
Starting in 2015, Josh received his first architecture license in Florida and immediately worked with leadership to establish a design department offering architecture services for the clients currently using the manufacturing and construction teams. At that point, Steve was hired, with others, to help with concept development and full design offerings. The team's passion for their work was evident in their dedication to each project, ensuring that every client's vision was brought to life. Like the construction department, the clients loved the full turn-key, one-stop-shop approach to the project. It allowed for a single point of contact and accountability.
In parallel with establishing the design division in 2015 at the Manufacturing company, Steve and Josh worked together to create the first iteration of what eventually became Islands Architecture and Design, LLC. Islands Architecture and Design, LLC grew from wanting to be more than just an architecture firm reproducing the same drawings and dictating to clients what they need instead of making the design process collaborative. By using the services offered by Islands Architecture and Design, LLC, our clients are able to gain a better understanding of the entire design process. Our innovative approach to design allows us to find unique solutions to our client's design challenges, ensuring that their visions are realized and exceeded.
